In the 2011 season, the DMSB (Deutscher Motor-Sport Bund) is organising the German GT championship (DGTM) fort he second time. The calendar of the series, catering for the increasingly popular category of cars, includes eight rounds. Like in the inaugural season, points can be scored in the ADAC GT Masters, the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring and the popular ADAC Zurich 24-hour race on the Nordschleife.

The successor of Luca Ludwig, who claimed the title in the inaugural DGTM season with the Audi R8 LMS, will be crowned based on a points’ scheme that has been optimised in details. Like in 2010, the results in the various race series are rewarded with a handicap system in order to appreciate the performances in different race formats. For instance, the points of the first ten classified drivers of a VLN round that counts towards the GT championship are multiplied by 1.25 whilst the factor for the 24h race is 1.5. The closing date for entries for the German GT championship is April 6th.
