The VLN drivers this year once again finished very successfully in the BMW Sports Cup. Most of all winner Richard Göransson who did not only compete in the Swedish Touring Car Championship for the team Schubert but took also part in three rounds of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft at the Nordschleife. The Black Falcon drivers Alexander Böhm (place 5), Philipp Leisen and Carsten Knechtges (both finishing 12th) had been very successful, too. The new Champions of the most popular Touring Car Series of Europe, Mario Merten and Wolf Silvester, were classified into position 18.

“Felicitations to Richard Göransson for his win of the BMW Sports Cup“, said BMW Motor Sport Director Mario Theissen. “Richard is always showing a very constant performance amongst the BMW privateers. In 2004 already, he established himself in the overall classification and, with numerous race wins, became a worthy representative of the BMW colours in the following years. A big compliment to all of the 214 participants in the BMW Sports Cup. It is due to their performances in very different BMW race cars that they contribute decisively to the broad presence of BMW in international motor sports.”
