All the successful drivers of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring season were awarded their prizes on occasion of the annual prizegiving ceremony at the Dorint Hotel Nürburgring on 11th December. The about 500 guests present that evening celebrated the new champions Mario Merten and Wolf Silvester of the Team Bonk-Motorsport as well as the winners of the special classifications VLN Standard Production Cup and VLN Junior Trophy. The winners of the Renault Sport Speed Trophy, the Seat Motorsport Cup and the PoliPower Cup for Group H cars also received their well deserved cups.
In addition to the various prizegivings, it was in particular the top-class show acts which provided a lot of entertainment amongst the motor sports people. Top act of the evening were the ‚Weather Girls’, but the band ‚Pop History’ with their programme ‚Night of the Legends’ and the bagpipe band ‚Drums and Pipes’, too, provided brilliant entertainment and contributed to the very cheerful atmosphere. And finally, everybody was laughing about the juggling comedian ‘Dino Lampa’.
Apart from the official programme, discussions about motor sport items were a major concern for many guests. The lights in the congress centre of the Dorint Hotel were switched off in the wee hours of the morning only – a perfect finish for the season 2010. The participants of this most popular endurance racing series in Europe will now start their well deserved winter break. However, even though this may sound like a peaceful and quiet rest over winter time, it will in many premises be the time of preparation for the new season. The fans will see the results of this work when the engines are switched of again in the ‘Green Hell’ on 26th March 2011 at the VLN set-up session.
