The current VLN season finished with another class win for the Team Schmickler Performance. Markus Schmickler and Guido Strohe furthermore came in third place in the VLN Series Production Cup, just behind two BMW Z4 teams. Good reason to celebrate after a very successful season for the BMW 325i which dominated the standard production class V4 up to 2.5 litres almost any time.
In this last race, the successful duo of Markus and Guido was again supported by Lars Heisel who once again attracted attention with a perfect performance.
A perfectly prepared car and an extraordinary talent of the drivers are required to race in the top group of the very competitive classes of standard production vehicles. Permanent development of the suspension up to a set-up adapted to the best to the correspondingly prevailing weather conditions constantly pushed the BMW 325i into top positions. With Markus Schmickler and Guido Strohe, supported by Slalom Champion Lars Heisel towards the end of the season, the package was completed by top drivers so that the team was able to dominate the other crews in class V4 again and again during the season.
The last round of the 2010 season came up with a strong grid and promised to be an exciting race as the weather conditions turned out to be very unsettled once again. Fortunately, the race was running over the scheduled distance this time although, towards the race end, once again it started to rain heavily and all the race strategies were spoiled.
The team nevertheless finally scored a class win. The BMW Z4 of the z?racing?team, too, achieved an enjoyable result with a fifth place amongst the great number of competitors in class V5.
Another successful season thus ends for Schmickler Performance. This will however not be followed by a rest period. The team will rather completely revise all of their cars over the winter season to be ready in time for the new season.
At this point, we wish to thank everyone who has contributed to our success. This includes in particular the mechanics and team members around the pits who have made sure that the event were running as smoothly as possible. Likewise, we wish to thank our sponsors for their support which will hopefully be provided for our team next season again.
