After the fantastic fifth overall place scored by Twin Busch Motorsport 2 weeks ago at the 9th round, the team was very optimistic for the final of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft to take place on Saturday, 30th October 2010. Again, they finished in the top 10 in the very competitive grid.
“That was a good end today of a strong season. We can be very happy”, said father and team manager Harald Busch after the race on the 24.369 kilometres long combination of the Nürburgring short connection and the Nordschleife.
During the 90 minutes timed practice on Saturday morning, Marc and Dennis Busch again provided an exclamation mark in the very competitive class Cup 2. With a time of 8:32,744 minutes, they were able to set pole again.
The starting signal for the 185 cars was then given just before 1 p.m. Dennis Busch started the race from position 17 and was right in the middle of the group of works drivers with much stronger race cars. Just in front of him started for example the new Haribo Porsche of the multiple winning team of Manthey Racing.
Dennis Busch, in the lead of his class, came to a pit stop and changed the steering wheel of the blue white yellow Twin Busch Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 997 to his twin brother Marc. Unfortunately, luck was this time not on the side of the race drivers from Hemsbach/ Germany. In the race over 4 hours, they had to come to the pits one lap before the scheduled stop due to a slow puncture and lost the lead to the duo of Kai Riemer (Leipzig/ Germany)/Rodney Forbes (Australia).
”Unfortunately, we were not able to make up the gap till the finish”, explained Dennis and Marc Busch in unison in the evening after the tenth and last round of the current season. It was nevertheless a fantastic end of the season for both of them.
Apart from second position in their class, they made it into the top ten again with overall position nine and with 8:32,227 minutes they also achieved fastest lap time in this final race of the championship. This time represents an average of 171.269 km/h in the Green Hell. Considering that the average of the winning team with a more than 100 HP stronger race car was only 6 km/h higher, this represents a very strong result again for the 22 years old twins.
The Team Twin Busch Motorsport thus finishes another strong season. They will now think about future projects during winter time.
