The countdown has started! The sixth edition of the VLN Fanpage Kart event will take place on 16 November 2013. On occasion of this unique final of the season to take place at Cologne Rodenkirchen, motor sport fans will once again have the opportunity to take up the challenge and fight against the Nordschleife experienced drivers. Amongst those are for example Opel Sporting Director Volker Strycek, as well as Jürgen Alzen, an institution at the Nordschleife, and the two Falken Motorsport drivers Martin Ragginger and Sebastian Asch.
The VLN is the most popular grassroots series in Europe – and it is outstanding regarding its concept. Apart from breathtaking motorsport battles, the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring stands above all for bringing motor sport so close to the fans. Even though with Dirk and Tim Groneck the new champions were already celebrated at the last round of the year 2013 on 26th October and the season at the Nordschleife was officially concluded, the fans may already look forward to the next highlight. The VLN Fanpage Kartevent again brings motorsport extremely close to the fans. “It is our target to provide a fantastic final of the season for all the fans”, informs the organising team. “All those who follow the action around the track throughout the season and celebrate their idols will now have the chance to get very close to them.”
The total of 48 fans will have this opportunity on 16th November. Spectators are of course also most welcome – the entry is free. The starting grid of the VLN drivers include many famous names. The five times VLN overall winner Marc Hennerici for example has confirmed his participation as well as Dominik Schwager who was the winner in the ADAC GT Masters several times this year. One would not like to miss Christopher Brück who holds the track record at the Kartcenter Cologne and will thus have a home game. Rookie Steve Jans who has already finished once on the podium in the current VLN season and who will represent the Team GetSpeed Performance will also join the race.
The format of the VLN Fanpage Kartevent will be very much the same compared to last year and thus promises to provide a great deal of suspense. There will first of all be a free practice for all participants, followed by the VLN Driver Qualifying. The next part on the programmes will include two pre-heats over 130 laps respectively in which the top six are qualified for the so-called “big final”. The drivers in positions 7-12 of the two pre-heats will contest a “small final”. A balance of performance will again be provided by handicap weights amongst the various teams. The VLN Fanpage Kartevent will this year be presented by Wolfgang Drabiniok and Lukas Gajewski, who have been the commentators of the Nürburgring 24h Race since some years.
