Ed Nicelife, Thomas Koll and the newly crowned FIA GT3 European Champion Daniel Keilwitz said goodbye to the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring with another class win for the Gmaxx Corvette GTR. With their fourth place overall, the MAOAM Corvette driven by Lance David Arnold and Christian Hohenadel confirmed that their result on the podium two weeks ago had not been a one-hit-wonder.
The last round of the endurance racing series which took place on the last weekend of October at the Nürburgring in front of an impressive crowd was at the same time the final of the DMSB GT Championship. That was reason enough for Gmaxx Racing for another ambitious attack.
Just as two VLN races earlier, Lance David Arnold and Christian Hohenadel again shared the steering wheel of the MAOAM Corvette entered by Callaway and Gmaxx with the target to bother the Porsche racing cars in the leading group – and they succeeded. The duo was again able to go the pace of the race leaders throughout the whole distance and finished the race into a brilliant fourth overall position.
The team of the Gmaxx GTR was again supported by Daniel Keilwitz for the season final. Whilst Ed Nicelife and Thomas Koll were able to complete their turns with good lap times and without any important incidents, Daniel Keilwitz had to manage the situation when it started to rain. The young FIA GT3 European Champion, however, mastered the challenge in a superior way and finished the race with the Corvette safely.
The Gmaxx team thus again finished with a win in class SP8 and concluded a successful season 2010 at the Nordschleife, as Nicelife confirmed:
”We have been able to demonstrate this year that the competitiveness of the Corvette must be taken very seriously also at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The last people doubting have become silent now after the participation of the MAOAM race car. This was a very successful season for us!”
Whilst the Eifel circuit will now start a deep sleep regarding motor sport events, Gmaxx will be present at other tracks. Next weekend already, the first round of the Winter Endurance Kampionschap at Zandvoort in the Netherlands is on the programme of Gmaxx.
At the Essen Motor Show, a Corvette GTS will also enjoy the visitors with spectacular drifts, whilst the sister car will be on its way to Dubai for the 24h Race in the desert sand. A winter break is not scheduled.
