The team of Mühlner Motorsport, which is based in Spa-Franchorchamps in Belgium, will participate in the season finale of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife with a Porsche 911 GT3 R. They have the brothers Tim and Jörg Bergmeister from Langenfeld under contract as drivers.
Since 2006 already, when Tim competed in the 24 Hour Race in Bahrain for the team Mühlner Motorsport, he forms regular part of the racing team squad of the ambitious team from the Ardennes in Belgium. The highlight in the cooperation over five years had been the drivers’ title in the ADAC GT Masters 2008. His brother Jörg, Porsche works drivers, has also already competed in twelve races for the Mühlner Team during the past three years.
The participation at the Nordschleife shall help to prepare the season 2011 when Mühlner Motorsport plans to compete again in all rounds of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring and in the ADAC 24 Hour Race at the Nürburgring.
The very first participation at all of the Mühler Motorsport Team took place (with an Opel Kadett Group N at that time) at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and the endurance race cup, as the series was called at that time, and the VLN endurance race championship, as it is called today, has always been part of their basic program, in addition to the participation in International race series all around the world.
In 1999, Heinz-Josef (Juppy) Bermes and Dirk Adorf from the team Mühlner Motorsport became Champions in an Opel Astra and in 2004, Ulli Andree, as part of the same team, finished the series in a Volvo S60 as winner in group SP and as vice-champion in the overall classification. In the year 2004 finally, Heinz-Josef (Juppy) Bermes and Jochen Krumbach won the annual classification of Porsche Cup race cars in the VLN endurance race championship for Mühler.
2011 will be the 20th participation in the ADAC 24 Hour Race at the Nürburgring for Mühler Motorsport. Since 1989, they have missed only three rounds (2001, 2008, 2010) of this classical 24h race. All together, the teams has so far competed in 33 24 Hour Races worldwide.
“We are really looking forward to the race at our beloved Nordschleife. Of course, it is also great fun to race at almost all of the circuits in Europe or in Middle East (Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi) and in Asia (China, Japan), but the Nordschleife is something very special and it is our home track since more than 20 years”, explains Bernhard Mühlner.
