Black Falcon will for the first time enter the new SLS AMG GT3 at the ninth round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring which will take place on Saturday this week, the 16th October. The AMG sports race car will be driven by Christopher Haase (Kulmbach/ Germany) and Thomas Jäger (Munich). Next season, the Champion team of this most popular endurance race series in Europe will compete with at least three SLS AMG GT3: They will contest the endurance race series, the ADAC GT Masters and the two 24h races at the Nürburgring and in Spa-Francorchamps. The second test race is scheduled for the final race of the VLN season on 30 October.
“We are very proud that we are able to enter the new SLS AMG GT3 as one of the first two customer teams”, says Black Falcon team manager Marc Schramm. “We are particularly looking forward to the cooperation with the team of AMG which will give us all the necessary advice and practical support at our first races. In addition to Christopher Haase, who has agreed to join our crew as driver for the coming races, Thomas Jäger with his experience will certainly also be a great support for our team.”
The team of Black Falcon has undertaken a gigantic program for the year 2011. They intend to contest ten VLN endurance races in the ‘Green Hell’ and in addition eight events of the ADAC GT Masters series. The program shall be completed by the two classical endurance races over the distance of 24 hours at the Nürburgring and in Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
“We are convinced that we thus offer a very varied program in particular for our customers”, says team manager Alex Böhm. “We are totally convinced of the SLS AMG GT3 project. Our plans for the season 2011 have been going on at full speed already since June. We see a great potential in this car to perform very well in the endurance race series and in the 24h races as well as in the ADAC GT Masters.”
In addition to the participation with the SLS AMG GT3, Black Falcon has entered an Audi R8 and drivers Sean Patrick and Sean Paul Breslin (both from Ireland) as well as Kenneth Heyer (Wegberg/ Germany) for the ninth VLN race. The current Championship leaders Alexander Böhm (Kelberg/ Germany), Philipp Leisen (Irrel/ Germany) and Carsten Knechtges (Mayen/ Germany) in the BMW 320i WTCC will however make all efforts to defend their lead in the class of VLN Specials up to 2.000 cc cylinder capacity. A 30 minutes summary of the race will be broadcasted in the channel Sport 1 at 09:45hrs on 23rd October
