The third-last round of the endurance racing championship featured once more motor racing at its best. The Seat team around Harald Jacksties pursues a clever tactics and wants the title for their ATS equipped Seat after the two remaining races.
The teams participating in the endurance racing championship seemed to be a little over-motivated when they returned to the Nürburgring last weekend to resume the series after the summer break. “I’ve never seen anything similar during the last ten years”, was the comment of a slightly shocked Harald Jacksties after the eighth round in the Eifel region. “I’ve hardly seen so many accidents”, the experienced endurance racing driver adds. And indeed, this eighth race of the season had to be stopped before the scheduled race time had elapsed. Even though there was only bodywork damage, track safety could no longer be guaranteed. Up to the stopping of the race, the spectators, however, saw motor sport at its best – and the teams equipped with the ATS racing wheels dominated their different classes.
Those include first of all the driver duo of Frank Lorenzo and Harald Jacksties who intend to go for the title in the Seat Endurance Challenge. “Of course, we didn’t push too hard today but we were rather racing with a view to the title”, says Harald Jacksties. This tactics brought them into second place in their about 300 HP strong Seat Leon. “We lost some time due to the red flag as we wouldn’t have had to come to the pits any more. We can nevertheless be totally happy”, adds the race driver who lives in Switzerland. After all, the quick and reliable crew was able to further extend their lead in the Seat Challenge. The team Lorenzo/ Jacksties now has a score of 48.38 points – 12.96 more than the second placed team. With two races left, the chances to win the title are thus looking pretty good.
The results of the other teams which started the race with ATS alloy wheels can also be rated as very good. Those include the assumed smaller teams up to the big ones on the grid. The Mini Cooper entered by Schirra Motoring for example won class SP2 T, the Opel Astra of Kissling Motorsport dominated class SP3 T or, in category SP 8, the trio with Nicelife/ Koll/ Keilwitz took a class win with a Corvette C6.
