The teams equipped with ATS race sports wheels finished the highly competitive 6 Hour Race of the VLN endurance racing championship with very positive results. The race which was marked by many hard duels went down in the history of the legendary Nürburgring circuit as one of the most significant races of this kind.
Before the teams of the long distance racing championship will start their well-deserved summer break, the highlight of this year’s season was on the calendar. The 6 Hour Race at the famous and legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife saw hot battles and exciting motor sport. The overall winners, the Porsche crew with Lance David Arnold and Christian Menzel, hereby scored a historic victory. Never before in the 83 years history of the Eifel circuit did a touring car complete more than 1000 kilometres at a six hours race. The winning team covered the total distance of exactly 1023.498 kilometres, although the race held under midsummery temperatures was considered to be one of the hardest ever. “We really had to struggle today with the many accidents and the traffic on the circuit”, informed an exhausted Harald Jacksties.
“We were catching up lap by lap and had to master extremely many overtaking manoeuvres. The drivers which stranded in the Green Hell got off lightly, no big damages apart from technical failures or body damage. However, we had quite some moments during the race with these many cars and quite a lot of newcomers at this circuit”, informed Frank Lorenzo, Jacksties’ team mate. The well attuned team of drivers made the pace in their Seat Leon as quick as usual over the demanding and twisty roads of the Eifel circuit. The key to success at this hot racing weekend finally was not only speed but also experience.
„The car was running like a Swiss clockwork, we had no problem at all. Just this one pit stop?” said Frank Lorenzo a little disappointed after the finish. The Seat team lost a little more than one minute due to problems at their refuelling stop. And it was exactly this minute which finally was missing to finish on the podium in the highly competitive class SP3. Harald Jacksties, Head of the UNIWHEELS Group Marketing Department, was nevertheless happy with the performance of the team. “The top four in our class are using ATS racing wheels and with such a successful result for ATS, you can be more than happy”, said Jacksties who lives in Switzerland happy at the prizegiving ceremony after the race.
However, the crew Lorenzo/Jacksteis also has quite a close look onto the championship classification in the Seat Langstrecken Challenge. The two Nürburgring experiences drivers now have quite a comfortable advance in this championship organised by Seat.
So the drivers can now start their well-deserved summer break before they will come back to fight for positions in the races of the last third of this exciting championship.
