The BMW 325 i with start number 565 finished the second round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring on 10th April 2010 with a class win in group V4. The successful team of Schmickler Performance achieved an excellent 51st overall position after 24 race laps and a race duration of four hours around the 24.369 kilometres long combination of the Nürburgring short connection and the Nordschleife.
At the start of the season two weeks ago, it had already become clear that the fight about the pole position in class V4 of standard production cars would be highly competitive. The two teams of Schmickler Performance and of Black Falcon showed right from the beginning how strong drivers and cars are. The first victory in the VLN series was thus gained by Black Falcon. This was however only the result of a formal mistake which occurred in the Schmickler Performance team. In the second race now, the drivers Schmickler and Strohe demonstrated again that their BMW can stand out with top lap times. The whole team showed an excellent performance from practice till the chequered flag which resulted in a well-deserved class win.
Although the Z4 Coupé entered by the z-racing-team and serviced by Schmickler Performance lost its 2nd place in the classification of class SP5 after a technical failure, they could rejoin the race due to the outstanding commitment of the mechanics and still achieved an acceptable 5th place. The race results show once more that it is not the cup in the hands which counts but the team which stands by each driver.
