This year’s participation of Lexus in the Nürburgring 24-Hour race will be the third start in a row for the LFA super sports car. Like in the years before, the two works racing cars will be entered again by the GAZOO Racing Team for the 38th edition of the traditional and classical endurance racing round on 15th and 16th May. Before the starting signal for this traditional marathon race through the “Green Hell” is given, the Japanese team started at the 35th DMV 4-Hour race, the second round of the endurance racing championship 2010, with two Lexus LFA in preparation for the 24-Hour race.
Together with his team mates Jochen Krumbach and the Japanese promising talent Kazaya Ohshima, endurance racing expert Armin Hahne achieved a win in class SP8 for cars with close-to-production engines. The LFA with start number 128 of the team Hahne/ Ohshima/ Krumbach took the chequered flag into 17th overall position out of 142 classified cars after having taken the start from 24th position on the grid. The experience gained at the Nordschleife under racing conditions hereby was of even greater significance for the team than the good result. They can thus apply further specific improvements until the start to the 24-Hour race in about 4 weeks’ time. “We have discovered some potential for improvements in particular regarding suspension and tyres”, says Armin Hahne who will compete again with the new Lexus LFA on 24th April 2010 at the 52nd ADAC ACAS H&R Cup race. This will then be the last test under racing conditions before the start of the 24h race at the world-famous circuit in the Eifel region.
