For BMW Motorsport, two participations with the BMW M3 GT2 are on the schedule of next weekend. After their third place achieved at the start of the season end of March, the Team BMW Motorsport has entered a BMW M3 GT2 again for the second round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring. Drivers Andy Priaulx (GB), Augusto Farfus (BR), Pedro Lamy (PT) and Dirk Adorf (DE) will come to the Nürburgring Nordschleife to compete. Participating in the “Green Hell” will also Dirk Müller (DE). He completes the team of Schubert Motorsport at the second participation of the new BMW Z4 GT3. The BMW Team Schnitzer will at the same time race at the “Circuit Paul Ricard” in Le Castellet (FR) at the first round of the Le Mans Series.
Charly Lamm (team manager): “This weekend will be a challenge for us regarding logistics as we compete in two race events in parallel. The BMW M3 GT2 for the Le Mans Series had its roll-out recently. We are now facing a marathon over eight hours. This is a really good test right at the beginning of the season. The first VLN round already was a good determination of our position. With position three, we were able to demonstrate that we can go the pace of the leaders. We now wish to complete further valuable kilometres with the BMW M3 GT2 in preparation of the 24 Hours Race. Right after the race at the Nürburgring, I will travel to Le Castellet. That will definitely be an interesting weekend.”
Augusto Farfus (start number 743, VLN): “It is really great to compete at the Nordschleife twice within two weeks. My experience is increasing with each lap I complete – and this is extremely important at this circuit. The third place at the first round was fantastic. I would not disagree to be on the podium again with my team mates at the end. But a lot of things may happen during a race at the Nordschleife. This event is an important step in our schedule of preparations for the 24 Hours Race.”
Dirk Müller (start number 91, BMW Z4 GT3, VLN): „This will be my first participation in the BMW Z4 GT3 this weekend and I am really looking forward to it. The car made it right into the top ten at the VLN opening race. As far as I am concerned, I have great fun to contribute to the further development of a new car as the BMW Z4 GT3. In addition, each kilometre at the Nordschleife counts before the 24 Hours Race.”
