F for the team Twin Busch Motorsport the motor sport season started again on 27th March 2010 at the Nürburgring after a long winter break. The twins Dennis and Marc Busch (Hemsbach/Germany) started in their Porsche GT3 997 in class Cup2.
\”We were not able to participate in the tests one week ago, on 19th and 20th March, as the engine was not finished yet, but we absolutely wanted of course to take part in the start of the season\”, informed Harald Busch on Friday before the 1st round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft which was held on the 24.369 kilometres long track combination of the Nürburgring Nordschleife and the sprint circuit.
They were hence working day and night and managed to bring the Porsche to the start of the timed practice session over 90 minutes in time on Saturday morning at 8:30. They were temporary even holding pole position in the very strong class Cup2 during the qualifying.
\”We missed the big triumph by only narrow 55 seconds in the end\”, said Harald Busch. When the track got dry towards the end of the session, the team changed to slicks but was slowed down in the first lap with the new tyres and they came back to the Line 55 seconds too late to be allowed to complete another practice lap. \”The tyres would have been perfect by then and I think we would have managed to be on the first or second row of the grid!\”
So they finished into seventh position on the grid \”only\” which was not at all disappointing for the two drivers as they are still in a stage of developping the Porsche and the family team had entered the car only a few times last year.
After the start at 12 o\’clock the first bad news arrived at the team in the second lap already. Marc Busch had moved up into third position already when he was pushed by a BMW on the long section at the \’Döttinger Höhe\’ before returning to start and finish and crashed into the guardrails. Whilst repairing at the pits where they had to change the steering link, the rims and other smaller parts they lost more than seven laps and had of course no more change to finish into the leading group.
Twin Busch Motorsport nevertheless was not too demoralized and rejoined the race with this big gap. \”It was our target to get more familiar with the Porsche\”, informed Dennis Busch who crossed the finish line in the \”twin-shop.de\” Porsche at 16:00 hrs after 19 race laps.
