Two VLN championship and junior titles in a row, more than 60 class and group wins in the 24h Specials and in the VLN series production cars classes – this is the positive summary of the first four years for the team Black-Falcon in the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring. After these successful results, it was time to go a step forwards and to face new challenges: In the season 2010, the fast falcons will enter two Audi R8 LMS of latest specification to fight in the leading group of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring for top places in the day classification.
One of the two front runners will carry start number 1, thanks to current VLN Champions Christer Jöns and Sean-Paul Breslin. Whilst the yellow-black design of the R8 LMS already causes quite a stir, the drivers\’ trio which is completed by Johannes Stuck will certainly also set the pace on the race track. The 23 years old race driver from Austria is anyhow full of anticipation regarding the engagement of the racing team from Kelberg/Germany:
\”I am really looking forward to the VLN season and to the 24h Race with Black Falcon. The team is very professional and highly motivated. I am sure that we will close up to the top group in the field during the year. The Audi A8 has a lot of potential and the team has the necessary man power and experience, so anything you would require for a successful cooperation is in place.\”
For the 24h Race on 15th March, the team will be completed by Kennth Heyer who finished third in the marathon race in the Eifel in 2008.
The second Audi R8 LMS will be driven by Vimal Mehta, Sean-Patrick Breslin and Bona Ventura who on their part, too, can hardly wait for the first race participation of the GT3 race car with start number 111 next weekend.
The new race cars were deliverd to the team from Kelberg/Germany in time for the start of the season. The first roll-out at the VLN test and set-up session last Saturday was running without any problems.
Since long, the Black Falcon team ranks amonst the well-established teams at the Nordschleife and on national level, too, the team gained attraction in winning the Seat Leon Supercopa, a supporting event of the DTM series. It was the first participation for the team in the Seat make cup and it confirmed its excellent performance with positions one and two at the end of the Championship season as well as with the victory of the Rookie title gained by Christer Jöns. The participaton with two Audi R8 LMS in the endurance racing championship, in the 24h Races at the Nürburgring and in Spa-Francorchamps as well as for the first time also in the FIA-GT3 European Championship is fixed for 2010 and represents the next logical step after the excellent results scored during the past years. Black Falcon will in 2010 thus take up the competition with the strongest GT teams on national and on international level.
The team Black Falcon will also be highly represented in the VLN series in three additional classes. In addition to the two R8 LMS, the total of four Falcon BMW will regularly be at the start of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring.
In the class V4 of standard production cars, Maik Rosenberg will be supported in the BMW E90 by Emin Akata and Jürgen Dinstühler, two drivers who are as experienced as they are quick. In class V5, a BMW with drivers Oleg Volin and the Russian Rally champion of 2007, Evgeny Vertunov, will fight for the win in the class. In class SP5 of the VLN Specials finally, Kai Riebetz and Andrii Lebed in a BMW Z4 also wish to finish on the podium in their class .
