On Saturday, 27th March 2010, the BMW motor sports department will have its first race participation of the season on occasion of the opening round of the VLN Langstreckenmeistershaft Nürburgring. The 57th ADAC Westfalenfahrt at the Nürburgring Nordschleife is the first of three races of this series in which the crew around team manager Charly Lamm will take part to prepare their participation in the 24 Hours Race, held at the same circuit on 15th and 16th March 2010. The team already gained first experiences last weekend at the VLN test and set-up session at the Nürburgring.

Augusto Farfus, Uwe Alzen and Pedro Lamy will take turns in driving the BMW M 3 GT2 with start number 742. Dirk Werner, Dirk Müller and Dirk Adorf will compete in the race over the distance of four hours with the second car and with start number 743. In addition, works driver Jörg Müller is going to take part for Schubert Motorsport at the first race participation of the new BMW Z 4 GT3.

Werner and Dirk Müller have already been able to celebrate their first results of the year on the podium. They participated with their BMW M3 GT2 on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, at the opening round of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) in Sebring (USA), where Werner, together with the two American drivers Bill Auberlen and Tommy Milner finished second in class GT2 for the BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team. Andy Priaulx (GB), Joey Hand (USA) and Müller followed into third position behind their team mates at this classical race over the distance of 12 hours.
