The team Autohaus-Winz from Voerder returns to the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring with a Fiat 500 Abarth Assetto Corse. The car was built by Abarth Turin in limited units for the participation in sprint races. Due to the delivery of the car as late as in December, the modifications to be applied for endurance races were a little delayed. The 500 will start in the endurance racing championship for the first time on 24th April 2010.
Before the development of plans to increase the power of the 1.400 cc turbo race car disposing of 200 HP and 300 Nm, the suspension characteristics and gearbox ratio will first of all be tested. Reliability has priority for the moment as there are plans to enter the car for the 24h Race 2011. There is some confidence that there will be more cars in this cylinder capacity class by then. The car will be driven by brother and sister Sandra and Heinz-Jürgen Winz who have previously competed in endurance races with their 1.400cc Fiat Punto.
