The fans of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring can this year look forward to a considerably increased TV representation, and this not only in Germany but all over the world. 29 TV stations will broadcast the ten rounds of the 2010 season in the total of 105 countries. Responsible for this big step forwards is WIGE Int’l TV-Marketing GmbH which is charged with the TV marketing of this unique racing series at the Nordschleife.
In Germany, the ‘Deutsches Sportfernsehen (D:SF)’, which will appear under the name ‘Sport 1 – Das Sport Fernsehen’ as from 1st April, will broadcast a 26 minutes long report shortly after each race. TV programmes of the same length about the exciting motor sport actions during the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring will be broadcasted in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Some of the most famous broadcast stations hereby are The Car Channel (Netherlands & Belgium), Auto + (Russia and CIS), Sky Sports (Great Britain), Fox Sports (United States) as well as Fox Sports Mid-East (Middle East).
”The VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring is a product worth of being promoted in television in an appropriate form”, says VLN General Manager Robert Rust. “In doing so, WIGE Int’l TV-Marketing GmbH is the exactly right partner for us.“ Peter Geishecker, Board Member of WIGE Media AG, adds: “The team around Managing Director Thorsten Schroeder disposes of excellent contacts to sports broadcaster worldwide. This is the reason why the endurance racing championship as a new product has straightaway been so well received on the international market by a great number of broadcasters. The series will experience a big increase in value and I am convinced that with joint efforts we can even further increase the TV presence in the coming years both on national and on international level.” The moving pictures for the TV broadcasting will, as in the previous years, be produced by the specialists of WIGE Media AG.
In addition to the broadcastings in D:SF, the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring 2010 will also be represented in many further TV formats. Different TV stations have sent enquiries and plan to present independent programmes about the series, single teams or drivers. “For stations presenting a purely editorial coverage, we will not charge any licence fees”, says Rust. “As in the years before, we hope to thus achieve a broad distribution of the endurance racing championship in the TV media landscape.”
To be continued: In 2010 again live pictures per DVB-T available all around the Nürburgring
The extensive media package provided by WIGE for the VLN is completed by the continuation of the DVB-T live coverage introduced last season. The endurance racing championship was the first racing series during which all of the races could be watched free of charge all around the Nordschleife using a commercially available DVB-T receiving set. In addition to a TV channel with live pictures from the Grand Prix Circuit and the pit lane, the service includes three data channels which give the fans around the circuit unrestricted access to the timing monitors. “This service has become incredibly popular in its first year”, says Rust. “So there is no way around than to continue with this DVB-T service and to make it an integral part of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring.”
