On occasion of the general assembly of the DSK (Deutscher Sportfahrer Kreis, association of German race and rally drivers) at the Nürburgring, DSK President Dr. Karl-Friedrich Ziegahn paid a compliment to the work of the VLN as organiser of the VLN endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring in his report on the year 2009. “The endurance racing championship has become one of the greatest and most popular series – also worldwide – and we wish to thank the VLN organisation for this”, said Ziegahn.
The physicist then addressed some words to Hans Jürgen Hilgeland, chairman of the VLN shareholders, who attended the meeting in the Dorint Hotel at the Nürburgring as a guest: “On behalf of the DSK, I wish to express our highest appreciation to the VLN. We find exceptionally many DSK members amongst the participants which establishes the importance of the endurance racing championship in this popular field of sports. Please make sure that this will continue. Motor sport in this category must remain payable for privateers, too.”
With more than 13.000 members, the Deutscher Sportfahrer Kreis is the biggest European association of active drivers and of motor sport fans – and has a long tradition, too. The DSK was founded in 1958 by Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008. Now as before, the DSK has been promoting the same targets: It supports this popular sport, critically observes the Sporting Authority, consequently performs activities in relation to environmental protection and in particular stands up for safety.
