A new German Championship for drivers of GT3 cars has been introduced for the year 2010. This decision was taken by the DMSB Board (Deutscher Motor Sport Bund) in its meeting of 17th February 2010 at Frankfurt. The big final of this first season will be held on occasion of the final of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring. The calendar of this new race series also includes the races of the GT Masters and the 24h Race at the Nürburgring.

The key to the common classification despite the diversity in the racing configurations is the points system which provides for the maximum of ten points to be scored by the winner in the GT Master events, the maximum of 20 for the VLN race and the maximum of 30 points for the 24h Race. Eligible to score points are only drivers with cars complying with the GT3 Regulations and with the Technical Regulations applicable for the corresponding event. Vehicles which are slightly different from the original GT3 specifications due to the 24h Regulations will also be classified.
