The SEAT Leon Supercopa is very popular with the racing teams. Since five years now, there is a run not only on the make cup heading under that same name, but also on the SEAT Leon Endurance Racing Challenge. This is the supporting series of the VLN endurance racing championship in which the meanwhile 300 HP strong race cars are entered with a separate classification and which is more attractive than ever for the teams due to a new, more flexible set of Regulations.
SEAT thus perfectly picks up the words of Hans Jürgen Hilgeland, the Chairman of the VLN Shareholders, which he mentioned on occasion of the prizegiving ceremony of the BF Goodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft 2009: ”We can promise exciting motor sport at the “Green Hell” due to our constant work on improvement and perfection.”
The following new options will make the SEAT Leon Supercopa as supporting event of the most popular racing series in Europe even more interesting for the teams. The team may now for example use a free fuel tank with a capacity of up to 100 litres. The use of an ABS is admitted just as are the rims of the make ATS (DTC and GTR) in the dimensions 8.5 x 18 inches as well as 9.5 x 18 inches. In addition, the SEAT sports rim 9.5 x 18 inches is eligible. Furthermore, the number of eligible tyre parameters has also been increased. Apart from the dimension 230/650R18, tyres with the dimensions 250/650R18 may also be fitted in the season 2010.
“Due to the performance and the good value for money as well as the well-balanced regulations, the SEAT Leon Supercopa is definitely one of the most attractive cars in VLN”, said Oliver Schielein, Head of the Seat Deutschland Motor Sport Department. A well-stocked prize money budget as well as the spare part support on-site are further good arguments for a start in the SEAT Leon Endurance Racing Challenge, which comprises ten events in the year 2010.
