The roadrunner racing Team will start the new season with their participation in the first round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft on 27th March 2010. The team of 14 members around the team owners Jürgen Peter, Denys Tessmann and Udo Huppertz are nonetheless no newcomers in the VLN racing business. Peter, Tessmann and Huppertz have all together gained more than 35 years of experience as driver, mechanic and organiser, in particular at the endurance racing championship Nürburgring and at the 24h Race Nürburgring.
End of 2009, two new Renault Clio Cup vehicles were delivered to the team which is based in Cologne. Extensive modifications regarding suspension as well as regarding tank and brake systems are now on the programme. Udo Huppertz informed that the first roll-out is scheduled for the first week in March already.
Udo Huppertz: “Due to our strong partners, our project is in all respects based on a very solid background. Following the choice of excellent technical components and with the support of the competent experts of our suppliers, we are more than confident to be in a position to offer a quick and also reliable racing vehicle package for all interested drivers. In combination with the brilliant basic car in form of the Renault Clio Cup, remarkable positions in class SP3 should be possible. In addition to the VLN classification, we will turn our attention to the Renault internal Sport Speed Trophy. The attention provided by Renault-Sport, starting with the purchase, followed by the technical support on and beside the track and up to the marketing, is unique in the endurance racing championship and represents a prime example when you speak of popular motor sports. So far, several drivers have made their commitment but we would also be pleased to welcome new faces in our team.”
Jürgen Peter: “We are looking forward to another season in the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring and to the 24h Race in May, this time on our own. As far as we have been informed, there will probably be about 14 Renault Clio Cup vehicles at the start to fight for positions. Regarding the very strong level of performance in the class, it will be a particular challenge for me and our drivers to stand up to the competition in the field.”
Denys Tessmann: “The Renault Clio Cup represents a perfect basis to prepare a race car which is suited to compete at the Nordschleife at minimal costs. The only modifications which we will carry out will be concerning brake system, tank system, suspension and data acquisition. All the remaining components will remain original. Just when a team starts to establish itself in racing sports, we think it is particularly important to do a maximum of racing kilometres to gain experience and this is only possible with a reliable car.”
