Prior to the annual prizegiving ceremony of the VLN endurance racing championship 2009, the VLN managing board met the new manager of the Nürburgring GmbH, Hans-Joachim Koch. The main purpose of this come-together for Koch as well as for the members of the VLN managing board Robert Rust, Hans Jürgen Hilgeland, Bernd Burkhard, Rolf Krimpmann and Peter Bröcher, was to get to know each other.
Koch confirmed to VLN that the endurance racing championship would play a big part in the continuity of the Nürburgring Nordschleife and that in future, too, motor sport would have priority at the Nürburgring. “This was a very positive meeting”, said VLN managing director Robert Rust. “I am convinced that in future we will continue to have a very close cooperation with out shareholder Nürburgring GmbH. We have the same targets and we are pulling in the same direction.”
