The participation of the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring in this year’s Essen Motor Show turned out to be a great success. This most popular endurance racing championship in Europe presented itself to the 300.000 visitors with an appearance bigger than ever. Amongst them was a great number of participants in the series who already announced their interest in their participation in the season 2010 and collected all available information around the new season.
About 30.000 visitors followed the spectacular driving demonstrations on the indoor race course in hall 7. The twelve cars from the endurance racing championship, including the small Ford Fiesta and up to the powerful Corvette, covered a distance of about 3.000 kilometres on the ten days of the motor sport fair. Every day, approximately 300 visitors to the Essen Motor Show enjoyed a taxi ride in a race car. The two busiest drivers from the endurance racing series were Thomas Koll and Uwe Kleen who completed their laps on all of the eleven days of the fair, including the preview and press day.
Some of the highlights of the endurance racing series’ presence at the show was the concert of the rock band Rage during the VLN demonstration laps on the final day of the fair, the prize competition moderation by Klaus Abbelen including his song performance as well as the taxi ride of Reinhard Paß, the Lord Mayor of the city of Essen, as passenger in the Audi S5 track safety vehicle provided by the car dealer Kempen of Meckenheim and driven by Koll. The visitors were really much surprised by the pit stop demonstrations presented by the team of the UAS Cologne and of Captain Racing. Sabine Schmitz was available for autograph sessions at the VLN merchandising booth on ten days of the motor show.
“The presentation of the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring at the Essen Motor Show was more than adequate and we could talk to a lot of participants and fans”, is the summary of VLN managing director Robert Rust. “The all-round popularity confirms our positive and confident attitude towards the season 2010, when we will as usual present popular racing sport again on a high level at the most beautiful race track of the world.”
