The three victories in the last rounds of the season and the total of four wins in the 2009 season caused some doubts about the Porsche 911 GT3 of Mamerow-Racing in the mind of the competitors. “There must be something wrong”, was the opinion of some teams who thought that the performance of the GT3 race car had not been according to the rules.
In order to stop all rumours, the VLN technicians decided to carry out a complete check on the Porsche after the season finale. Team director Peter Mamerow willingly agreed and allowed his engine to be sealed. Some days after the final round, the technicians then dismantled the car and carried out a thorough inspection. The result was that the car was in complete conformity with the regulations. The unanimous judgement was: “The Mamerow-Porsche is absolutely clean!” So it is beyond all doubts now that the fantastic performance of the team which is based at Castrop-Rauxel is exclusively due to the brilliant engineering and to the racing speed of the two drivers Christ Mamerow and Dirk Werner.
