Dennis and Marc Busch have repeated their successful result of the year 2008 and gained the Seat Langstrecken Challenge again with a big advance. The pair of twins easily dominated the Cup which has been organised as part the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring since many years. They gained the title with a score of 46.65 points ahead of Mike Jäger (21.67 points) and Harald Hennes (13.33 points). The two winners and the two drivers completing the top three will be honoured for their success by the Head of the Seat Motorsport Department, Oliver Schielein, at the annual prizegiving in January.
Whereas the 2009 season finished on 31st October with an exciting final, Seat Germany is already preparing next year. Schielein informed about some first details of the new and more open Regulations: “With a few adjustments, the series will become even more attractive both for drivers and for teams. I think that regarding the cost/performance ratio, we can even offer the best package within the endurance racing championship.”
It is confirmed that a separate Cup classification will be carried on. From 2010, the drivers will have the option to fit ABS in their race cars. In addition, ATS or the international Seat Sports rims between 8.5 and 9.5 inches will be eligible. More freedom will also be given regarding the tyres as amongst the slick tyres the drivers can now choose between a tyre width of 250 or 230. Another important modification refers to the fuel tank the design of which will be free, provided that the maximum capacity of 100 litres is respected and that it complies with all the current safety requirements. To reduce the car weight and achieve a better ventilation, plastic windows may now be used for the two front doors.
“Due to these modifications, the teams can now participate in the Cup classification with almost each Seat Leon Supercopa”, explains Schielein regarding the updated regulations. An additional motivation to compete in the Seat Langstrecken Challenge is certainly also the prize money. Seat will distribute the total amount of 30.000 Euro for the top three in each qualifying round. In addition, an attractive special prize will be awarded to the Cup winner at the end of the season. Registrations for the Seat Langstrecken Challenge 2010 may be submitted to the organisation from beginning of next year.
