The team of Schubert Motorsport from Oschersleben had good reason to celebrate again at the final round of the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring on 31st of October 2009. They finished the season at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a victory in class VD1T.
The team had entered three BMW 320d and wanted to finally climb onto the winners’ podium again. And the crew of Schubert Motorsport succeeded. The team from Norway with drivers Nils Tronrud, Anders Buchardt and Andreas Mikkelsen finally were on top of the podium. “Mikkelsen in particular was a really very nice surprise”, said Stefan Wendl of Schubert Motorsport. This was the very first participation at the Nordschleife for the rally works driver who is the shooting star of rallying in Norway and internationally. At the Rallye Deutschland he had already scored a victory and demonstrated how quick he can be on asphalt, too!
”Before I came here, I knew the circuit from the play station only”, said Andreas Mikkelsen. “On Friday then, I had the opportunity to complete four laps in the BMW 320d for the first time and I was really greatly impressed. It is great fun, indeed, and I am looking forward to coming back.” In the end, it was not only his first participation but the first victory at the same time.
The trio of Peter Posavac, Jörg Viebahn and Marc Hennerici did not take the chequered flag this time. They had started so optimistically after Jörg Viebahn had achieved pole position with the BMW 320d in class VD1T in the morning with a time of 9:04.259 minutes. In very nice autumn weather, Peter Posavac started the race. After a close battle about the lead and when he was about to come to a pit stop in his next lap, he was involved in an accident, holding first place in his class at that time. So all the expectations to win the class were spoiled as they had to finish the race.
A quick end also for the “junior team” as it is internally called with drivers Emin Akata, Jürgen Dinstühler and Torsten Schubert. In the morning qualifying, the crew still achieved second lap time on the 24.369 kilometres long combination of the Nürburgring Nordschleife and the sprint circuit behind their sister car of Schubert Motorsport, and Dinstühler then took the start to the race in the BMW 320d with start number 470. Shortly after the race start, though, the driver gave the sad news: “I came onto the curbs and into the dirt and the car spun. Although the impact was not that heavy, a repair unfortunately was not possible.”
The results of Schubert Motorsport in class VD1T during the season thus is almost perfect. With the exception of the second round, they achieved a victory with the BMW 320d in each of the nine other races! In addition, they scored another five places on the podium at the Nordschleife. In class SP10, they were starting eight times in total and gained seven victories and one second place with the BMW M3 GT4.
