Five times on the podium in seven races of the tv14 Honda Civic Cups – The BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring is running perfectly for the team UAS Cologne Motorsport. With the result at the 32nd RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen the motor sport racing newcomers, though, do not yet meet their own ambitions.

3rd grid position gained in the timed practice, third position in the race. The VLN Honda Juniors still have to wait for their first victory due to a lack of performance in the race, the item “Championship”, however, is still in discussion.

Whilst the car seemed to be perfect in the free practice, Tim Scheerbarth and Dennis Nägele complained about huge traction problems in the timed practice. “I always lost a lot of time when I accelerated out of slow corners”, informs Nägele. “So third grid position was the maximum we could achieve.” “We have then changed the set-up of the car again before the race, including the lock which we thought was causing the problem”, explains Christian Kuhnke, Technical Director of the UAS Cologne Motorsport team. “We did not quite understand what the problem with the car was today and we were thus not able to solve the problem for the race.”

The race was rather unspectacular but Tim Scheerbarth and Dennis Nägele – brother Kristian had to take a break due to family reasons – nevertheless had to work quite hard. “The cars in the positions ahead of me just pulled away after the start”, says Nägele. And Tim Scheerbarth adds: “We then concentrated onto securing position 3 over the race distance”. And they succeeded! The juniors finished on the podium already for the fifth time in the current season. The strong competitors of the team Dupré-Nett Racing won the race, just ahead of the Team Totz Motorsport following in second place.

“Our performance today was not really good. Our times finally had not been that bad, but the others were simply faster”, was the analysis of Tim Scheerbarth after the race. “Generally, everything is going on extremely well this season, we have exceed all external expectations”, is the comment of Jan Derenbach. “Our internal target, though, is to close up to the leaders until the end of the season. The championship is not yet lost for us as we have scored points quite constantly.” Derenbach expresses a special thank to their cup competitors of Mathol-Racing. “Team manager Matthias Holle provided us with a new gearbox including lock at the Nürburgring after the timed practice. That was really absolutely great!”
