The series of bad luck for the Vulkan-Racing Team Mintgen-Motorsport is over. With place seven in the overall classification, Dirk Riebensahm and Christian Kohlhaas finally achieved the eagerly awaited good result in their bilious green Dodge-Viper GT3 Competition at the seventh round of the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft.
With a lap time of 8:27.172 minutes, the team achieved their first target already in qualifying. Dirk Riebensahm thus immediately joined the group of the professional teams and secured ninth grid position for the team. The green Coupe was also running perfectly during the race. With constant fast lap times over the four hours race duration, both drivers sustained their claim onto a position in the top ten and finished the race into seventh overall position to the delight of the complete team.
The Dodge Viper Competition Coupe had undergone many technical updates in accordance with the homologation. Powershift, a new motronic and a clearly improved braking made the faster lap times possible. “Due to the great technical work in many details accomplished by Michael Mintgen, we have now made a big step forwards. Seventh position is a really great result for as and I believe that not many had anticipated the new performance”, was the summary of Christian Kohlhaas after the race.
Yet, the development of the Dodge Viper GT3 is still far from being finished. The list which shall be worked off in the near future includes some more points to improve. The fans will be able to see the result on 3rd of October when the Vulkan-Racing Team Mintgen-Motorsport will start again at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
