Since mid July, the teams of the endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring enjoyed a summer break after which they now returned to the green hell with fresh energy, especially the ATS teams. With its respectable second position in the race, the Seat crew with drivers Frank Lorenzo and Harald Jacksties for example was able to defend its top standing in the overall classification.
The Nordschleife could hardly have offered a nicer welcome back for the competitors in the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft as both weather and track conditions at the seventh round of the endurance racing championship were simply perfect. So the teams and drivers found the best possible conditions after the almost six weeks’ summer break to carry on their racing season. Amongst them of course the Seat Leon team with Harald Jacksties and Frank Lorenzo. “Finally we are back again”, said Harald Jacksties after the practice session. The two experienced race drivers had not at all forgotten anything during the mandatory break. The Seat team took the start from second grid position behind the technical superior Audi A3 entered by Raeder Motorsport which was equally equipped with ATS wheels.
After 26 race laps, the Inter Racing team then took the chequered flag also into second position. “It was great fun and our car was absolutely perfect, but it was also quite an unspectacular race this time. We were able to defend our position quite easily. We couldn’t have done better”, informed Frank Lorenzo after the prizegiving. Anyhow, they did not need to do better in order to safely collect valuable championship points. With their fourth place in the series classification, the well-established team Lorenzo/ Jacksties is still in a promising position regarding the fight about the title.
At the end of the race-free period, many further teams with ATS motor sport wheels also started successfully into the autumn season. They scored victories in classes SP 3T (Raeder-Audi A3), SP 2T (Schirra Motoring-Mini Cooper S), SP3 (Kissling Motorsport-Opel Astra GTC) as well as in the Seat Leon and Honda Civic cup classes.
