Two teams in the Honda Civic Cup had some quite busy weeks: Dupré/Nett had to assemble a new bodywork and it was last but not least thanks to the paint shop of S2000 driver Bermes that the junior team was able to bring its car to the start again.
Due to the fresh, almost a little autumnal air on Saturday morning, the two cup leaders were able to set new fastest lap times in practice: 9:53,300 minutes for Dupré/Nett and 9.55.603 minutes for Totz/Kreuer.
In the race, Peter Kreuer quickly caught up with Christoph Dupré and they drove each others up to new personal records in the second lap: 9:52,269 minutes for Kreuer, 9:52,380 minutes for Dupré.
The juniors Scheerbarth/Nägele were this time not able to go the pace of the leaders due to traction problems. Even a gearbox change after practice, which Mathol-Racing kindly made possible, did not solve the problem. Despite this handicap, Dennis Nägele and Tim Scheerbarth finished into third position with a gap of only two minutes behind. Kristian Nägele by the way was not able to participate in the race this time for quite a pleasant reason: he enjoyed his honeymoon together with his wife Jenny.
After the refuel stop, Dupré/Nett were able to get away and finally celebrated their victory with an advance of one and a half minutes ahead of Totz/Kreuer. Christoph Dupré: “That was a fantastic and always fair fight at the beginning of the race. The new car is of course much better to control than the old one which has already competed in two and a half VLN seasons and two 24 hour races.”
Daniela Schmid and Nicole Müllenmeister had a reliable race and finished into fourth place ahead of the Norwegian team with Roger Sandberg/Erik Steinbraten/A. Tinnes-Mork in the Manthol racing car which came into fifth place. Dr. Sebastian Schäfer/Lutz Rühl and guest driver Scott Preacher unfortunately were not classified.
Honda Sport Pokal
The second place in class SP3 with 22 cars was the best result this year for Markus Fugel and Uwe Wächtler in the Honda 2000. Wolfgang Weber and Norbert Bermes had been able to defy the later class winners of the team Kissling Motorsport for a long time but they were stopped due to technical failure after three hours racing time. Torsten Platz and Walter Nawotka finished fifth in the Cardiff-S2000 and Oleg Volin together with Evgeny Tsarev in the former Fleper-Civic were shown in tenth position. Claus Dupré, Axel Jahn and Joachim Nett in the old Honda Accord Type-R scored their best result of the season in finishing fourth in class V4 and they thus moved up into second position in the Honda Sport Pokal.
