Only 132 of the 187 starters took the chequered flag at the highlight of this year’s endurance racing championship. The teams equipped with the ATS motorsport wheels mostly got away without any problems and dominated their classes. The Seat drivers Lorenzo and Jacksties have meanwhile already moved up into ninth championship position.
“We are somehow missing a little bit of luck today”, regarded Harald Jacksties this year’s 6h Race with regret. However, the Seat team was finally not totally unhappy with the result at the eventful highlight of the season. Lorenzo and Jacksties, who perfectly work together as a team, confirmed their previous good performance during the current season with a second place in class SP3 T. It must be assumed that the two experienced race drivers originally had an eye onto a victory as the Seat Leon equipped with ATS wheels started the race from pole position. But the changing weather conditions spoiled their chances in the first third of the race already. “We had not been very lucky in the choice of tyres today and took two wrong decisions which threw us relatively far back”, explained Frank Lorenzo.
The Inter Racing team would however never give up. So the Seat crew was trying very hard and with full commitment to catch up with the top teams. After another scheduled pit stop, the yellow-blue ATS Seat rejoined the race on slick tyres although the track was still a little wet. “For once, we were lucky in out tyre choice and regained a lot of places”, informed Jacksties.
However, the Inter Racing team could above all be happy to see the chequered flag at all. “Almost from the very beginning of the race, we had problems with the brake system. We had to pump with the left foot again and again and the brake pads had totally gone at the end”, said Jacksties. A look onto the overall classification of the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft, though, proves that their commitment finally has fully paid off: The fast Inter Racing Seat is shown into an excellent fourth place already.
Successful results also for the other teams running on ATS wheels: They scored wins in classes SP 3T (Raeder-Audi A3), SP 2T (Schirra Motoring-Mini Cooper S), SP3 (Kissling Motorsport-Opel Astra) and in the Seat Leon and Honda Civic Cup classes.
