As if the small summer break had never been there, the teams equipped with the ATS motor sport wheels dominated their classes again at the last round of the endurance racing championship. The two teams entered by Raeder Motorsport and Inter Racing respectively scored even a double victory.
The driver duo Frank Lorenzo and Harald Jacksties which is very much used to win started the fourth round of the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring last weekend with high expectations again. The Inter Racing team, though, first had to suffer a serious setback in the timed practice. “The engine control unit of our Seat Leon has spoiled our plans”, informed Harald Jacksties. The front-wheel driven car equipped with the ATS motor sport wheels thus gained start position three only. “Nothing to worry about. We do anyhow not attach great importance to the start position. It’s the race result which counts”, was Frank Lorenzo’s statement just before the race and he started to get his knife out. Right after the start, the top three in class SP3 T were able pull away from the rest of the field. They were fighting about each metre and they were within only three seconds until the first pit stop.
“After the scheduled refuel stop, I really started to show my teeth. Unfortunately, my stint ended too early due to the suspension of the race,” explains Harald Jacksties the unconventional strategy of the Inter Racing team which however worked perfectly. Place two was thus assured for the Seat team when the race had to be suspended due to an accident. “After the restart, we were able to secure our second position solidly. It was anyhow not possible to move ahead of the technical superior Raeder A3”, was the roundup of Frank Lorenzo.
At the end of the race, the Inter Racing Seat was only two minutes behind the Audi A3 and secured the impeccable double victory for the ATS motor sport wheels. “We have used some wider tyres at the front axle for this event. Although this makes the handling of the Seat more difficult, it is possible to set more constant lap times. We are already in twelfth position in the championship classification and we are still in the lead of our class”, said Harald Jacksties happily at the finish.
The ATS motor sport department, too, was happy: Kissling in the Corvette (SP8) scored another class win, as did Peugeot driver Bernd Hömberg (SP2 T).
