Uwe Alzen’s first engagement as team manager and driver at the 24h Race finished perfectly with a fourth overall position. The team’s 14th place in the qualifying was a good basis for the subsequent race. Together with his three team mates Lance David Arnold, Sascha Bert and Christopher Mies, after a few laps already Alzen succeeded in moving ahead into sixth position. They had a relatively quiet race then and the team around Alzen fought its way up into fourth place in a concentrated and prudential way. Due to the comfortable advance ahead of the team in fifth place, they could reduce their pace during the last race laps and thus drive their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup carefully to the finish. Shortly after 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Alzen took the chequered flag in the matt black “monster Porsche” in a brilliant fourth position.
Uwe Alzen: “For us, this result has the same meaning as an overall win as, regarding the fact that our car was not a winner’s car, we have achieved an absolutely marvellous result. All the drivers have done a fantastic job and the team has worked absolutely perfectly and highly professional – 14 pit stops only, as little as no one else. All the work in the run-up to the event has paid off now and I am really looking forward to the coming races of the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring.”
