It was under difficult weather conditions that Patrick Brenndörfer and Martin Müller finished the 34th DMV 4 Hour Race brilliantly in their Heico HS3 Bioethanol and thus scored the 5th class victory in the company history of Heico Sportiv.
“We are more than happy that we have finished the race under these adverse weather conditions without any damage on our Heico HS3 Bioethanol. Even though there had not been that many competitors in our class “SP4T” this time, a class victory in the endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring is not just a matter of course”, informs Patrick Brenndörfer after the race.
Since the beginning of the current season, the cars running on Bioethanol fuel must participate in the “normal class” for turbo petrol engines. “This is very much appreciated as we can demonstrate the potential of our CropPower85 fuel in competing directly against petrol engines and we prefer not to get special treatment”, explains Martin Müller. And a comparison between the new Diesel class and last year’s competitors running on biodiesel engines should anyhow be eligible. “We have beaten those today as well“, he adds with a smile in his face.
Joy in driving thanks to biopower – which is demonstrated by other points as well: Overall position 57 amongst the total of 182 starters and lap times comparable to the ones set in the new BMW M3 GT4 driven by Touring Car World Champion Andy Priaulx. “We are happy as we had to start from 91st position only”, commentates team manager Andreas Hoffmann. Until ten minutes before the end of practice the team was still into an excellent 35th overall position before they dropped back as they changed just a little too early onto dry weather tyres when the track got drier.
The track was dry when the start to the 4 Hour Race was given but soon it started raining and turned the Nordschleife into the legendary so-called “Green Hell”. “This was an advantage for us as we used different tyres on the front and on the rear axle. I could easily pass ten competitors in the last third of the lap”, informed Brenndörfer happily. After ten laps on the 24.369 kilometres long combination of the Grand Prix Circuit and the Nordschleife, Martin Müller took over the steering wheel in the Volvo C30 T5 to finish the race safely with constant fast lap times.
