The Mühlner Motorsport Team which is based in Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium participated last Saturday in the first round of the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft 2009 at the Nürburgring with a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup S. The car in which Tim Bergmeister won the ADAC GT Masters drivers’ classification for Mühlner Motorsport in the 2008 season was now adapted to the special requirements of the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Oliver Kainz (Kottenheim) and Frank Schmickler (Rösrath) had a perfect race and finally finished second in the new class for FIA GT3 cars. This means at the same time fourth overall position amongst the 163 starters. “The car was perfect as was the grip of the tyres. Other teams frequently had tyre problems, but for us the race was running without any incidents”, said Frank Schmickler after the race. “I am very happy with the setup of our Porsche, the dampers are perfectly adjusted to the difficult conditions at the Nordschleife”, added Oliver Kainz.

From the second round on, Mühler Motorsport will enter two Porsche 911 GT3 Cup S in the new class SP9 for FIA GT3 cars. With Heinz-Josef (Juppy) Bermes (Willich), Dieter Schornstein (Aachen) and Ulf Karlsson (Schweden), three additional Nordschleife experienced and successful drivers will then take up the challenge.
