The Pink Power Racing team had left the circuit even before the first round of the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring, the 56th ADAC Westfalenfahrt, was started.
With drivers Ludger Henrich/ Jürgen Schulten and Helmut H. Engelbracht in the Opel Astra, the successful team from Schmitten had originally planned to challenge the leaders in class V3 for close-to-production racing cars. A performance test carried out on Friday before the free practice, though, resulted in too high KW values and hence too much power. The car was then transferred into class SP3 for improved racing cars, yet with hardly any chances of success. “We did not want to forfeit the entry fees and absolutely wanted to compete”, explained Heinrich the situation.
However, the Astra had to stop after the first practice lap over 24.433 kilometres on the combination of the Nordschleife and the short connection of the GP Circuit due to a damage on a hydraulic cylinder in the clutch.
For the second round on 18th April, Pink Power now intends to participate with the second Astra, called “Pünktchen” in group H.
