VLN thanks the track safety marshals with a big party

Besides the drivers, the track safety marshals are the secret heroes of the Nürburgring Endurance Series. Without them, motor sport would not be possible. Even though they play such an important role, they are rarely in the limelight. This was different as the 55th ADAC Barbarossapreis ended. With the big marshals’ party, the VLN – the organisation behind the tradition-rich Nordschleife championship – took the opportunity to express its appreciation for the support of all the volunteers.

“As an active driver, I was unintentionally your ‘customer’ a few times when I broke down somewhere after an accident or a technical failure. And I was always glad that you were there,” said Mike Jäger, Managing Director of VLN Sport, in his welcoming speech. “You as marshals of the track safety are an important part of our series. It is only through your tireless commitment – whether in temperatures just above freezing or in the summer heat – that motorsport in the Green Hell is feasible at all. With this party we would like to say thank you!”

In addition to a free snack, drinks and live music, the big tombola with valuable prizes was the highlight of the evening. Under the motto ‘Every ticket wins’, no one went home empty-handed that evening. “Our sincere thanks go to all the partners of the NLS and teams who supported us monetarily and with donations in kind for the tombola,” said Jacqueline Johann, Managing Director of the VLN VV. “In the end, there were many happy faces and the evening was thus a complete success. I would also like to thank the volunteers from the VLN clubs who supported us in organising the marshals’ party.”

Still before the marshals’ party, there were two more support activities for the track safety marshals on race day. The Benefizkorso e. V. organised a parade on the Nordschleife between practice and the race. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the tickets sold go to the benefit of the marshals. In addition, those responsible for the Facebook group ‘Pro NLS’ handed over a donation cheque of 500 euros to Chief Marshal Michael Beer on the grid. “On behalf of the entire marshals, I would like to thank you for your support,” Beer said at the handover. “We will use the donations to invest in new equipment so that we are prepared for all kinds of situations in the Nürburgring Endurance Series next year.”
