More than 260 registrations have been received!

A fantastic year is coming up for the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring. This is not only reflected in the very great number of spectacular race cars with which the drivers will compete in the current season but also in the number of registrations received. More than 260 drivers and teams have submitted their applications to compete in the 2011 season. They all wish to fight regularly for championship points and be on the podium when the cups and the prize money are awarded at the end of the year.

“I have been involved in the championship since quite a few years but I can hardly remember a year in which so many participants had been interested in the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring”, says VLN Managing Director Robert Rust. “It looks as if we will score a new record regarding the number of entries. And the coming season will also be exciting as far as the competitive element is concerned.”

Another point, too, makes the VLN which is organising the endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring happy: The complete range of the series is reflected in the registrations, from close-to-standard compact race cars up to the most sophisticated cars, every category will be represented. This confirms again the excellent reputation of this most popular endurance racing championship in Europe. “The top cars will certainly be in the focus of interest”, says Hans Jürgen Hilgeland, spokesman of the VLN shareholders. “But the midfield is always the basis for our series and thus of great importance.”

The great number of different car manufacturers in the field is particularly important for the spectators around the Nürburgring circuit as, in addition to the dream sports cars, the grid will include very many touring cars with which the many fans can very well identity.

The first of the ten championship rounds this season will be the 58th 58. ADAC Westfalenfahrt to take place on 2nd April when probably more than 200 race cars will start at the four hour race in the ‘Green Hell’. After the timed practice from 08:30 to 10:00hrs, the start signal will as usual be given at 12 o’clock exactly – High noon at the track in the Eifel region.
