DMSB relaxes regulation for FT3 safety tanks

The issue of FT3 safety tanks is off the table for the production cars of the Nürburgring Endurance Series. After a constructive dialogue, the DMSB has published a corresponding information. Thus, in all production car classes in which no safety tank has been mandatory so far, the use of the standard tank will be allowed in future as long as no changes are made to the standard tank. Should an auxiliary tank be used, then it must comply with the FIA standard FT3-1999, FT3.5-1999 or FT5-1999 as a safety tank.

“We welcome the concession made by the DMSB as it allows a large number of car owners to continue participating in the Nürburgring Endurance Series with their traditional touring cars and without having to invest in their vehicle,” says Mario Hermani, member of the NLS technical team. “So the originally considered step-by-step plans with different deadlines are out of force and vehicles that have the original tank in the original position are allowed to use it – in all of our V and VT classes.”
