The first experience with the new safety measures introduced at the Nordschleife has been gained. On occasion of the Qualification Race for the ADAC Zurich 24h Race, most of the provisions adopted to improve safety at the Eifel circuit turned out to be feasible. After a debriefing with the teams and the drivers, the DMSB has nevertheless taken action and upgraded some details of the conditions in co-ordination with the VLN and the ADAC Nordrhein.
The speed limit applicable in the pit lane for example has now been set from 30 km/h to 50 km/h. Moreover, the zone in the area Döttinger Höhe in which the maximum speed of 250 km/h is in force has been extended from marshal post 200 to post 200a. All other provisions will not be changed and communicated in detail to the participants of the second VLN race in the official drivers’ briefing.
