After scoring second overall position at the previous race, Dörr Motorsport again showed an impressive performance at the fourth round of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring. After several laps in the lead, the McLaren 12C GT3 finished in sixth place overall. The Toyota GT86 driven by Hoffmeister, Dreszer and Wrabetz was classified sixth in its class.
The rehearsal at the last race before the highlight of the season, the ADAC Zurich 24h Race, turned out to be very successful for Dörr Motorsport as the McLaren 12C GT3 confirmed its position in the leading group of the field.
The qualifying practice finished for Rudi Adams, Sascha Bert, Kevin Estre and Tim Mullen with the ninth position on the grid. Estre, who was the driver to start the four hour race in the super sports car, showed a brilliant performance. Within the first three laps, the Frenchman was catching up from ninth place into first position and maintained this top position until the scheduled stop for a drivers change. Tim Mullen who then rejoined the race in the McLaren was amongst the top three in his stint. Sascha Bert, too, who made his debut in the team of Dörr Motorsport, continued to fight about a position on the podium. After an accident in which two competitors were involved, Race Control stopped the 45th Adenauer ADAC Simfy Trophy a little more than one hour before the scheduled race time had elapsed.
Rudi Adams who was the last of the four drivers behind the McLaren steering wheel crossed the finish line in sixth place when the red flag came out and is now looking ahead with confidence. “After today’s performance, we are optimistic for the coming 24 Hour Race as our McLaren was running perfectly. It is a pity that the race had to be stopped prematurely, we could well have finished on the podium.”
In the Toyota GT86, Maciej Dreszer, Arne Hoffmeister and Fabian Wrabetz secured another finish for Dörr Motorsport. Wrabetz, who had taken the start from fourth position within the make cup of the Japanese sports coupé, completed his stint without any mistakes, just like his team mates. Hoffmeister finally took the chequered flag in sixth place. „Like in the previous races, all of the three drivers have shown a perfect performance. We lost one place due to our strategy to advance the short and final pit stop, in combination with the early stopping of the race”, explained team manager Uwe Isert after the finish.
The second Toyota GT86 with drivers Thomas Bolz, Francesco Fanari, Philipp Göschel and Florian Wolf finished in ninth place. The driver quartet had lost almost two laps due to an additional pit stop which had become necessary after a brake problem.
