ROWE RACING with two top results

The team of ROWE RACING finished the second round of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring into positions 7 (start number 7) and 8 (start number 6) after the race was stopped in lap 25. They thus scored the best result amongst the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 teams which had taken the start.

After the morning qualifying, the two gullwing race cars from Bubenheim started the 37th DMV 4 Hour Race side by side from grid positions 19 and 20. Right after the green light, start drivers Thomas Jäger (start number 7) and Alexander Roloff (start number 6) started to catch up constantly in their first laps.

At about mid-race, the two ROWE SLS were for the first time shown in the top ten and confirmed their positions until the race was stopped as it had started to hail in the area of the ‘Hohe Acht’ shortly before the official race distance had been completed.

The team of the lubricant manufacturer ROWE, which is based in Bubenheim/ Germany, had entered the following driver crews for the race: The car with start number 6 was driven by Roland Rehfeld (Blankenfelde/ Germany), Marko Hartung (Wallroda/ Germany) and Alexander Roloff (Berlin/ Germany). The crew in the sister car with start number 7 was made up of the former DTM professional driver Thomas Jäger (Munich) and Jan Seyffarth (Querfurt/ Germany), the Porsche Carrera Cup vice champion of 2008 who this time celebrated his successful racing debut in the team of ROWE RACING.

Team manager Hans-Peter Naundorf was accordingly satisfied after the race: “A result of both cars in the top ten is perfectly all right – in particular as this was another test race for ROWE RACING. We are very happy with the performance of our drivers and of the whole team – however, our SLS currently still lacks some top speed at the long straight of the Döttinger Höhe.”

The entry list of the 37th DMV 4 Hour Race included 184 cars, subdivided into 25 classes. The two Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 of the team ROWE RACING fitted Dunlop tyres competed in the strong class SP9 which figured 20 cars.

The next VLN race, the 54th ADAC ACAS H&R Cup will take place on 28th April at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. All the highlights of today’s race will be shown on Wednesday, 18th April, from 17:30hrs in channel SPORT1.
