Even though Manthey-Racing will join the International GT Open series in 2012, the team will also still be represented at the Nordschleife. In parallel to the European-wide International GT series, the team of Manthey-Racing which is based in Meuspath near the Nürburgring will compete in the VLN with three Porsche 911 GT3 at the Nürburgring Norschleife.
The currently confirmed three race cars for the 2012 endurance racing championship will be the “pinstripe” Moskovskaya-Porsche in class SP9, the strong Wochenspiegel 911 in class SP7 and the 911 GT3 Cup race car of Wolfgang Kohler. All of the three Manthey-Racing cars are in 2012 again expected to fight about the top positions in their respective classes.
”It had never been an option to completely withdraw from the VLN. After due consideration, we have however decided to stop the competition with our top car in the yellow-green livery”, Olaf Manthey clarifies other rumours currently going on. In relation to the reduced total number of race cars, the Director of the most successful racing team of the past years with regard to the number of overall wins adds: “As we will in the new season no longer be the entrant of three of the 2011 race cars, we currently have the capacity to prepare two to three further customer Porsche for a participation in the VLN series.”
