Due to a heavy accident at Imola Sunday before last, the troubles in the Tiemann race team based at Meuspath have increased. Specialists in Italy intensively continue in trying their very best to maintain the stable state of health of the well-liked race driver who experienced his greatest success during the past years under the aegis of Olaf Manthey. A head surgery and a tracheotomy underline the dramatic moments. An originally scheduled transport to Munich was postponed as the stabilization of the patient is of utmost importance for the attending doctors.
“We will have to do without Marcel at least for the rest of the 2010 season, but instead of seeing him racing again, it is much more important for my wife and me that he will recover and be better very soon”, informs team manager Manthey. It was with a big heartache that the family Manthey received the bad news about the accident and the heavy injuries of their driver who lives in Monaco. “Marcel is much more for us than a driver and he is even more than a friend. Due to the long and good cooperation, the relationship between Renate and me to Marcel is almost like to an own son!”
Apart from the Manthey family, all the staff members of Manthey-Racing GmbH are of course impatiently waiting to receive positive news from Italy. Martin Schober, workshop supervisor, emphasises: “Marcel is not only a good driver, he is above all also an adorable person and without any attitudes towards his mechanics. We keep our fingers heavily crossed for Marcel to join us again very soon again and in good health!”
The yellow green 911 GT3 R will be driven by Arno Klasen and Oliver Kainz at the coming fourth round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft. The thoughts of the two drivers with start number 114, of their team mates racing in another Porsche entered by Manthey-Racing and of the numerous fans which have sent their best wishes for a quick recovery through the team during the last ten days are with Marcel in these difficult days.
