The Team Black Flacon, based in Kelberg, will race for overall victories in the endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring next season with two Audi R8. They will carry start number 1 on the door – the number for the current Champion. The aim for 2010 of the successful team will of course also be to defend their title.

Actually, the decision of team founders Alex Böhm and Marc Schramm to make the pace in the leading group of the endurance racing championship is a logical conclusion of the successes achieved in the last years. Win of the VLN title as well as of the Junior-Trophy in 2008 and 2009, straightaway championship title and vice-championship title in the Seat Leon Supercopa – Black Flacon is more than ready for a new challenge.

The leading group of the championship organised by the VLN has meanwhile become the “who is who” in national and international GT sport. The list of new rivals for the Team Black Falcon in the season 2010 will figure names such as Manthey, Mamerow, Schnitzer-BMW, Schubert, Alpina, Mühlner and possibly even Ferrari. A fact which is again specifically highlighted by Marc Schramm in saying: “There has never been a battle about the overall victories in the endurance racing championship as hard as it is expected to come for the season 2010. Studying the entry list, it becomes obvious that the top drivers in this series can easily match with various national and international GT series. This entry on such a top level is also a big motivation for us. We wish to establish next season that the Team Black Flacon belongs to the absolute top teams in national motor sports.”

Two Audi R8 LMS will thus fight for top positions right from the start of the season. The crews in the champion car with start number 1 as well as in the sister car will be made up of fast and famous drivers. The final composition for the two GT race cars will be published in a few weeks time only due to ongoing negotiations.

“After due consideration, the Audi R8 LMS was the best choice for us. The car has an enormous potential and has undergone an excellent development during last season.”

In addition to the engagement in the endurance racing championship, the ‘falcons’ are also flirting with the idea to compete in additional endurance races or even in a GT series. This is one of the positive results of last year’s changes in the VLN Regulations: The SP9 race car Audi R8 LMS actually is a thoroughbred GT3 car which is eligible to start in many racing series without the need to undergo big modifications. The Black Flacon-Audis will thus certainly not only be seen at the Nürburgring.

Apart from the attack on the lead in the VLN series, an additional target for the new season will be to defend the title again. The yellow-black race cars will in 2010 try again with many regular drivers and some new drivers to achieve as many class wins as possible and to collect as many points for the championship as possible.
