The Porsche 911 GT3 R in new racing version

Porsche, who have previously entered the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, will now participate with a new racing car in the motor sport season 2010: The 911 GT3 R will compete in racing series which are organised in conformity with the FIA GT3 Regulations and thus succeed the 911 GT3 Cup S. The main changes were carried out in relation to a better drivability and handling. The 911 GT3 R is driven by a 4 litres flat-six engine with 480 HP (353 kW). A sequential six-speed gearbox transmits the power to the rear axle.

The basic car for the development of the 1.200 kg light 911 GT3 R is the make cup racing car 911 GT3 Cup version which was presented last September. With a displacement increased by 0.2 litres, the GT3 R now features 30 HP more than the Cup racer. Both racing cars are based on the series production version of the 911 GT3 RS, with flared mudguards.

The anti-lock system (ALS), traction control and an electronic double-clutch shall make it easier and much quicker to get used to the new GT3 racing car compared to its predecessor and to make the handling easier also for ambitious privateers. The front and rear flared mudguards show the enlarged track. Just like all of the 911 models of the second generation, the new 911 GT3 R also has the conspicuous LED lights at the back.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R will have its world premiere at the Birmingham Motor Show on 14th of January 2010. The Porsche 911 GT3 R is prepared at the Porsche Motor Sports Department of the Development Centre at Weissach and be available for the clients from all over the world from spring 2010.
